The behind bars group was formed in 2001 to service the increasing demand for professional drinks catering in the outside events and corporate hospitality industry.

Many of behind bars' clients have in the past experienced bar services provided by people who lacked the skills, but with us they have found efficiency, reliability and quality of service – and that is why we have been retained repeatedly by satisfied clients.
One of our earliest functions was 2001's Sony Bollywood International Television, Film & Music Awards in Mumbai, India, a huge event where we provided impeccable bar services to hundreds of major figures from the vast Indian movie industry. More recently we've worked at many high profile functions, including the Spiderman 2 Film Premiere and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee Celebrations held at The Ritz in London.

One of the two founding directors said “it is important to understand that profit within bars is not just about selling more. It is about creating the right ambiance in the bar, expertise within the bar team and proper control of stock and waste. Above all every establishment should show an ethical and responsible approach in providing hospitality”
Recognising its social responsibility, behind bars are offsetting their CO2 emissions on both international travel and UK transport by paying an environmental levy to Climate Care. Behind bars will pay this levy out of its normal business income and no charge will be levied on to their clients.
Their highly professional approach to events has seen rapid expansion in the behind bars events business. Continuing to be controlled by the other founding director Mark Bullerwell., Mark commented that “We have seen so many cowboys in this business – bartenders who think that they can make a fast buck. However we provide not only an ethical professional service but we recognise that the provision of these services should also be environmentally responsible. We ensure that waste and all recyclable materials are handled correctly. Our bar teams are very aware of the standards that we have set and are willing to work to them!“
As part of it professional approach to training behind bars has launched a new bar assessment programme. Strictly an executive tool the on-line system is confidential. No one need visit any hotel, bar or restaurant to set up the multi-language assessment programme. It is inexpensive, quick and examines the behavioural aspects of staff or management, helps to identify waste and staff inefficiency, permitting the company executive to implement a programme to improve performance and profitability.
It is important to stress that this assessment programme is not a survey and at no time are questions based upon scales of 1 – 5 or levels of agreement with any statement.
